New Starts

So this is the beginning of my blog that will cover both of my ICT and Emedia lessons for year 10 and 11 pupils at Redcar Academy. Through this blog I hope to show progress of both my teaching and the pupils that I teach. This week has seen the school update the timetables of the pupils; this means that I now have new year 10 pupils for ICT and Emedia. This is both exciting and daunting for me as I love the challenge of teaching new pupils but also teaching a new area is a little scary. It is important that I look back and reflect on my lessons so that I can improve on them.

Hard work is something that goes hand in hand with teaching and now more than ever I feel that I will be working hard to ensure that I stay one step ahead. I must ensure that my own understanding of a subject is water tight to ensure my pupils progress as I know they can. As I approach the end of the week I am happy with the way my lessons have gone however I must consider these point:

  • ICT - To many loose sheets of paper. These can and should be made available to pupils online.
  • ICT - Some pupils lose interest going into the 3rd hour of the class. Triple lessons must be planned so that they variable and keep pupils from being bored. Spice it up Maher!
  • Emedia - Apprentice lesson - to long for pupils?
